History
of Pizza

While certainly ancient, the earliest
origins of pizza are not at all clear. One interesting legend
recounts that the Roman soldiers returning from Palestina, where
they had been compelled to eat matzoh among the Palestinian
Jews, developed a dish called picea upon gratefully returning
to the Italian peninsula.
Most sources, however, agree
that an early form of pizza resembling what today is called
focaccia was eaten by many peoples around the Mediterranean
rim such as the Greeks, Egyptians and others.
These dishes of round, pita-like,
cooked bread with oil and spices on top are the ancestors of
pizza, but are not--properly speaking--pizza. The tomato was
unknown and the Indian water buffalo had not yet been imported
to Campania, the area around Naples.
With the discovery of the
New World, the tomato made its way to Italy through Spain. It
was considered a poisonous ornamental and so in the first centuries
of its import, was not eaten.
The Neapolitan people seem
to have been the first to wholeheartedly adopt the tomato into
their cuisine. Today, the plum tomato is the most characteristic
element of Neapolitan cuisine.
Over the centuries, a tradition
of pizza developed among the Neapolitan poor. A modern pizza--that
is, with mozzarella di bufala and tomato--was made in 1871 in
Naples for Princess Margherita of Savoia by Raffaele Esposito.
This patriotic pizza, tomato, basil and mozzarella, in honor
of the new tricolor Italian flag's red, green and white, became
the pizza alla Margherita. This form of pizza was then made
known, popularized and adapted around the world through waves
of emigration from Naples in the late
19th and early 20th centuries.
The History of the American-style
pizza pie.
The United States is among
the most pizza-enthusiastic countries one can find today. How
did this come about?
Italian immigrants to New
York City began making a version of pizza when they arrived
in their new American home at the turn of the 20th century.
The first pizzeria in the U.S. was opened by an Italian immigrant
in 1905.
In addition, American
GI's returning from Italy gained a familiarity with the dish,
in the world war II period, pizza really took off in the United
States.

The
lycopene in tomato sauce is well known for fighting prostate
cancer, but according to a new Italian study, lycopene may help
prevent colon, esophageal, and oral cancers as well. In a study
of 8,000 men and women, researchers found that individuals who
ate pizza once a week had a 25 to 60 percent lower chance of
developing each of these three types of cancer. "Lycopene
appears to help prevent free radicals from damaging cells in
the body, and thereby reduces cancer risk," says Omer Kucuk,
M.D., a professor of internal medicine at Wayne State University.
For maximum protection, the pizza topping should consist of
20 percent (or more) sauce, just 4 percent olive oil, and less
than 20 percent cheese.
DO YOU WANT TO GET SEXUALLY EXCITED? BREATHE
A PIZZA!!

Were you fond of oysters and
champagne? Did you rely on the aphrodisiac effect of crustaceans
and caviar? Forget it! Try pizza. A group of experts from Illinois
discovered that the domestic fragrance of mozzarella and tomato
sexually excites more than a pumpkin cake or popcorn or cheap
fragrances or carefully prepared dishes in famous restaurants.
Does this mean, based on the discovery
recently presented to the American Psychosomatic Society in
New Orleans, that pizzerias of almost all over the world will
become the exclusive clinics where people can treat impotence?
Which treatments of"four seasons pizza"
or "champignon pizza" will be invincible for an uncontrollable
erotic call ?
Is this a real event of pizza erection?
. The American experts led by Doctor Alan Hirsh of Taste Treatment
and Research Foundation of Chicago do not go to such an extent
but they guarantee that simple and cheap fragrances such as
mozzarella, tomato, liquorice, pumpkin and doughnuts are real
sexual stimulants and produce a 40% increase in blood flow in
men’s sexual organs. The experts used 31 men for their
test. After being blind folded these men had to smell a series
of different fragrances.
Different flows were simultaneously measured
by a "plethysmograph".
Pizza was among the leaders, but a mixing
of fragrances including pumpkin cake, lavander, doughnuts and
liquorice won the erotic super-combination.
Mixing doughnuts and pumpkin produced an
absolutely bad effect. According to Doctor Hirsch many of these
fragrances show their efficiency because they are founded on
a childhood and past memory and quickly stimulate the brain
to give out impulses to the nervous system.
In other words, it seems that Doctor Hirsch
simply and indirectly advises women: a sound cooking and pastry-making
course is better than spending three hours at a beauty specialist’s
make-up room
Viagra?
No thanks! Pizza is better!

The latest astonishing news concerning
pizza comes from – as it often happens -- the United States!
Well, pizza-makers all over the world, hold on tight!…
because perhaps you do not know that you have produced a wonderful
product for centuries and this product works better than-viagra.

This is not a joke, but the outcome of
a careful scientific research. The news is confirmed by the
journalist Daniele Protti who has recently written an article
in the weekly "Sette" by Corriere della Sera.
The unexpected aphrodisiac qualities of
pizza were effectively shown by research carried out by a group
of experts from Illinois led by Doctor Alan Hirsh of "Taste
Treatment and Research Foundation". The results of the
research were presented during the congress of the American
Psychosomatic Society in New Orleans.
The
survey concerned the effects of some fragrances on the quantity
of blood flow produced by the body. The tests showed that mozzarella’s,
tomato’s and origano’s fragrances put on a hot steaming
pizza act as sexual stimulants by causing a 40% increase in
the blood flow in men’s sexual organs. Therefore, forget
ginseng, spiny lobsters, oysters or special Eastern ways and
gorge on pizza.
 In
fact, it seems that the most insidious rival of viagra is pizza.
Doctor Hirsh and his team carried out tests where some men were
blind folded and had to smell a series of different fragrances
while the doctors measured their blood flow. Well, there were
different reactions for each fragrance. After a lot of experiments
carried out on lavender, liquorice, doughnuts, pumpkin cake
and so on, it seems that pizza caused strongest reactions, placing
among the most stimulating substances tested. The moral of the
story. No more synthetic pills or expensive suppers! If you
want to conquer a woman and you desire to stupefy her with your
exceptional physical capacities do not bring her to have supper
in an elegant and refined restaurant but do invite her to eat
a delicious hot steaming pizza at your reliable pizza-maker
or have your pizza delivered directly to home!
If the results are different from what
you could imagine, you could get over it by thinking that at
least this experiment will not have cost you a fortune!!
